This support group is for parents of teens who engage in self-harming behaviors. This support group is hosted by Charmaine Perry, LPC.

 

The parent support group is designed to create community and support for parents who are looking to connect with others. This support group will help parents learn to navigate the difficulties of caring for teens with these high-risk behaviors while creating connections with other parents who are navigating similar experiences.

The group will utilize an open forum to allow group members to discuss their individual concerns. The group will discuss topics that include:

• The definition and cycle of self-harm

• Signs to notice in teens that indicate self-harm

• Rebuilding the relationship between parent and teen after the discovery of self-harm

• How to address the revelation of scars from self-harm

• Managing the stressors and challenges of living with, and parenting, a teen who self-harms

• Understanding available resources to support your teen

 

The group has a rolling admission group which means that members can join the group on a weekly basis. Group members can join from any location as this is not a therapy group. The group is open to anyone in the United States who is interested in joining and can meet the virtual requirements as well as the requirements listed above.

 

The support group will meet on Tuesday nights at 7pm EST from January 9, 2024 to May 21, 2024. The cost of the group is $45.00 per group session with a max attendance of 13 members per session. Please note that insurance is not accepted for this group. The cost is cash pay only.
